We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our Kineo part of the business here at City & Guilds.
This is a permanent opportunity, and it will suit an individual with previous accounts experience who is looking to utilise their existing skills and develop further in the accounts field.
You will be joining a small but busy team. We are flexible with your location as you will mainly work from home, but you will be contracted to one of our hubs and we would like you to be able to visit the office and attend meetings as and when required.

About the role
The Assistant Accountant is responsible to support and assist the Finance Manager and Finance Team with all financial tasks using specified accounting software and other required systems.
The Assistant Accountant will work autonomously in their duties, however, will be provided adequate training, supervision & support.
Your main duties will include:
- Performing all Accounts Receivable (AR) related tasks and processing sales invoices
- Preparing and sending invoices, statements, and credit notes to customers and being a main contact for all customer queries
- Liaising with the Customer Success team to ensure that customers are invoiced correctly and on a timely basis
- Updating AR process documentation
- Downloading daily banking into SAP and matching payments received to outstanding invoices
- Monitoring customer account details for non-payments, delayed payments, and other irregularities
- Reviewing outstanding debtors and assist the C&G GBS team in recovering outstanding debts
- Being a key point of contact for other departments on financial and accounting matters
- Calculate and maintain revenue recognition calculations
- Processing journal entries as required
- Reconciliation of End of Month (EOM) balance sheet accounts
- Assist with EOM financial reporting including Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet
- Uploading Finance data to OneStream
We would also like you to assist with Accounts Payable, cost control and monthly expense reporting to departmental managers, bank reconciliations and maintenance of filing system.
As an Assistant Accountant we would like you to develop an in-depth knowledge of Kineo's products and processes and to contribute to the continuous improvement of financial accounting systems and to assist in the development of high- quality procedural documentation and standards.
In this role our successful candidate will support Finance Manager, Senior Finance Business Partners and other executives with various projects and tasks.
About you
- You will have worked within an accounts / finance role previously.
- This role would suit an individual with a methodical approach, somebody who has good attention to detail and excellent communication skills and is proficient on Microsoft Excel.
- You do not need to be fully qualified, but this role would ideally suit an individual with AAT qualification who wants to develop further and is perhaps studding towards ACCA or equivalent.
- This role will allow you to develop your career and gain more experience, so we are happy to look at progressive individuals who want that next step up.
- We are looking for a person with an ability to be a hands-on operator as well as business partner to varied stakeholders. We want you to be credible and proactive and have lots of initiatives and drive to succeed. Also, we would like you to be confident to introduce improvements if necessary.
- Knowledge of accounting packages, using purchase portals and experience of working with suppliers and customers will all be desirable in this role.
- You must be able to effectively read and interpret information and present numerical data in a resourceful manner.
- We would like you to skilfully gather and analyse information.
- We work on SAP, so previous experience of this system would be a distinct advantage.
